New Aggregate Electric Rate for Greenview Set at $0.10899/kWh

4/2/2025

What is Electric Aggregation?

The Village of Greenview is a member of Central Illinois Municipal Aggregation or CIMA, a group of 22 communities that have banded together to better negotiate competitive electric pricing for Ameren residential and small commercial accounts (less than 15,000 kWh annual usage).

The new fixed rate price for Greenview is $0.10899/kWh.

This rate will be locked in for 12 months starting with the June 2025 meter read. This rate does not apply to delivery or other charges.

How does this impact me (a residential customer)?

Ameren will be sending a letter in the mail explaining their new Municipal rate. IF you do nothing with the letter your rate will automatically be the new aggregate negotiated rate of  $0.10899/kWh. Be sure to compare and decide whether you want to switch back to Ameren's rate, and know that Ameren's rate could fluctuate in price within the next year, while the aggregate negotiated price will remain steady for one year. CautionIf you opt out of Greenview's negotiated aggregate pricing, you must wait one year to opt back in.

Advantages of Aggregate Pricing

We expect Ameren's prices to be considerably higher than where they are currently. The CIMA rate locks in a fixed rate for 12 months with no volatility (ups and downs).

Additional Savings Ahead

Coming later this year, we will be offering a 10% discount off your Ameren bill, using off site solar credits. This will be an opt-in program and will require your approval through a sign-up process. More details to come!

Why are rates going to rise so high in June??
There are many factors for increased prices:
1. Market Correction
2. Coal and Natural gas production is being cut
3. Coal and Natural gas Electric generation plants are being closed
4. New Electric needs (EV’s or Electric Vehicles) will increase the demand for electricity
5. New Data Centers being built and using large amounts of electricity.
